Embed Templates

Embed templates turn a link you already have into a working embed. Pick the service, paste the link, and HTML Macro+ writes responsive iframe HTML and CSS into the editor. You don't need to find the service's embed address or write any code yourself.

Adding an Embed

  1. Edit a Confluence page, type /html and insert HTML Macro+ for Confluence.
  2. In the editor, click Embed templates at the top.
  3. Choose a service from the list on the left.
  4. Paste the link into the field. The hint under the field says which link to use.
  5. Optionally, enter a Title for screen readers. It defaults to the service name.
  6. Check the Preview, then click Replace content or Add below.
  7. Click Save.

Replace content empties the HTML, CSS and JavaScript tabs first. Add below keeps what you have, so you can put several embeds in one macro or add an embed under your own layout.

If the link doesn't look right for the service you picked, the dialog says so before anything is inserted.

Supported Services

Category Services
Video YouTube, Vimeo, Loom
Design and whiteboards Figma, Miro
Documents Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google Forms, Google Drive file or PDF, Microsoft Forms, Microsoft 365 file (Word, Excel or PowerPoint on the web)
Dashboards and data Power BI, Tableau Public, Airtable, Google Maps, Google Calendar
Other Any web page or PDF
  • YouTube, Vimeo, Loom: the normal video link from the address bar or the Share button. A YouTube watch?v= link works; the template converts it.
  • Figma, Miro: the file, prototype or board link. It must be viewable by anyone with the link.
  • Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive: the file link. Share the file with "Anyone with the link" or publish it to the web.
  • Google Forms, Microsoft Forms: the link you send to people who fill in the form, not the editing link.
  • Microsoft 365 file: in Word, Excel or PowerPoint on the web, use File > Share > Embed and paste the src address from the code.
  • Power BI: a "Publish to web" link, or a secure embed link. With a secure embed link, readers sign in to Power BI to see the report.
  • Tableau Public: the link of a view.
  • Airtable: a shared view or form link (it starts with shr).
  • Google Maps: an address or place name, or the src address from Share > Embed a map.
  • Google Calendar: the calendar ID from Settings > Integrate calendar, or its public URL. The calendar must be public.
  • Any web page or PDF: any https link.

The Generated Code

The template writes plain HTML and CSS into the normal editor tabs, so you can change it like any other macro content: add a caption, change the border, or place two embeds side by side.

  • Videos and slides keep their shape at any page width with an aspect ratio. Documents, forms and calendars get a fixed height and scroll inside their frame.
  • The frame follows Confluence's light or dark theme. See Supporting Dark Mode.
  • Each embed has its own class name, such as yamuno-embed--youtube, so several embeds and your own CSS can share one macro.
  • Converting the link happens in the editor. Nothing is fetched or sent anywhere.

Security and Blank Embeds

Embeds load through the same sandbox as the rest of the macro, so your security settings apply. If the site's settings block the service's domain, the dialog warns you before you insert it, and readers would see a "Content blocked" placeholder. A Confluence admin can add the domain to the whitelist.

If the frame stays blank, the service itself may refuse to be shown inside other pages, or the file may not be shared publicly. Check the sharing settings in the service first. The troubleshooting guide covers other common causes.
