HTML Macro for Confluence

Requirements

  • Platform: Confluence Cloud only (not Server or Data Center)
  • Role: Confluence site administrator
  • Runtime: Atlassian Forge — no external servers required, runs entirely on Atlassian infrastructure

Install from the Atlassian Marketplace

  1. Go to Atlassian Marketplace and search for "HTML Macro for Confluence"
  2. Click "Get it now"
  3. Select your Confluence site from the dropdown
  4. Follow the installation prompts
  5. Installation completes in 1–3 minutes

Once installed, the HTML macro is immediately available to all Confluence users with page edit permissions.

Verify the Installation

  1. Open any Confluence page in edit mode
  2. Type /html — if HTML Macro for Confluence appears in the dropdown, the installation was successful
  3. Click the macro to open the editor

Post-Installation Configuration (Optional)

After installing, site administrators can configure security and permissions:

  1. Go to Confluence AdministrationManage Apps
  2. Find HTML Macro for Confluence and click Configure
  3. Adjust security settings (CSP enforcement, domain whitelist) and user permissions

See Security Settings and Permissions for details.

Permissions

  • Editors (users with page edit permission) can create and edit HTML macros
  • Viewers see the rendered HTML output only — they never see the source code
  • Admins have full access to the editor and the global configuration panel

Uninstalling

  1. Go to Confluence AdministrationManage Apps
  2. Find HTML Macro for Confluence and click Uninstall

Note: Uninstalling removes the app. Existing macros on pages will no longer render and will appear as empty placeholders. Export or copy any important HTML content before uninstalling.
