Configuration Overview

HTML Macro+ for Confluence has a global settings panel accessible to Confluence site administrators. Settings apply across all HTML macros on your entire Confluence site.

Accessing Settings

1. Go to Confluence Administration
2. Click Manage Apps
3. Find HTML Macro+ for Confluence
4. Click Configure

The settings sidebar groups its pages into Library (Components, Variables, Brand), Access (Security, Permissions), Insights (Usage) and Tools (Migrate).

Security Settings

Control how external content is handled inside HTML macros:

• External Content Security: choose between Block all, Whitelist only, or Allow all
• Domain Whitelist: manage which external domains are permitted
• Allowed Protocols: specify which URL protocols are allowed (e.g. https, mailto, tel)
• Content Size Limit: set the maximum allowed macro size in KB

Permissions

Control who can access the HTML editor:

• Restrict editing to whitelisted users and groups: limit the editor to specific people
• Users and groups: pick individual Confluence users, whole Confluence groups, or both

Usage Analytics

View all Confluence pages that contain an HTML Macro:

• Stats overview: total pages, published pages, and number of spaces using the macro
• Sortable table: columns for page title, excerpt, space, status, and last modified date
• Search & filter: instantly find any page across all columns
• Direct links: open any page in Confluence with one click

Migrate

Move content from other HTML macro apps, and from legacy Server/Data Center macros, into HTML Macro+ across a whole space:

• Source app: Legacy HTML (Server/DC), Macro Toolbox, Appfire, Narva, or any macro key on the Advanced tab
• Preview: a dry run showing how many macros each page will get
• Safe by default: each page gets a new, restorable version; pages with unpublished edits are skipped

Library

Keep shared building blocks that every macro on the site can use:

• Components: reusable HTML, CSS and JavaScript, used in a macro as a tag such as <ReleaseBanner />
• Variables: named values such as {{companyName}}
• Brand: colours, fonts, images and design tokens, used as CSS custom properties

Only Confluence admins can change the library, and only from these settings.

Saving Changes

After changing security or permission settings, click Save Changes. The save bar only appears when there is something to save.

Changes take effect immediately, including in macros and editors that are already open. No app restart or page reload is required.
