What changes for your reporting
- Questions
Each built-in gadget answers one fixed question.
One gadget takes any JQL and groups it by status, assignee, priority or labels.
- Freshness
Reports are CSV exports pasted into a slide, out of date by the next stand-up.
Charts on the dashboard read live Jira data every time it loads.
- Focus
Ten gadgets on the dashboard, and nobody reads them.
A few charts, each tied to a decision the team actually makes.
How a chart gets onto the dashboard
One gadget, four choices. Charts - Reports and Graphs reads live Jira data every time the dashboard loads.
Pick the data
A project, labels, a saved filter or any JQL query. If you can filter it in Jira, you can chart it.
Charts - Reports and Graphs for Jira Dashboard
Choose the chart
Bar, line, pie and donut, area, scatter, a combination of them, or a plain table when the numbers matter more than the shape.
Group by what matters
Status, assignee, issue type, project, labels or priority. Set colors, titles, axis labels and segment order to match how your team talks.
Leave it running
The chart reads live data and can refresh on its own. Everyone who views the dashboard only sees issues they already have access to.
Reports teams build first
Copy the JQL, adjust the project keys, and pick the chart shown.
Where work is stuck

Questions
How do I create a report in Jira?
Jira has built-in reports per project, such as the sprint report and velocity chart, under Reports on the board. For reports that span projects or answer your own question, add a chart gadget to a dashboard and point it at a saved filter or JQL query.
Can I build a Jira chart from a JQL query?
Yes. Charts - Reports and Graphs takes a project, labels, a saved filter or any JQL query as its data source, then groups the results by status, assignee, issue type, project, labels or priority.
How do I see workload per assignee in Jira?
Use a bar chart grouped by assignee with a query such as statusCategory != Done AND assignee is not EMPTY. Each bar is the open work one person holds.
Do the charts update automatically?
Yes. They read live Jira data when the dashboard loads, and each chart has an auto-refresh option for dashboards left open on a screen.
Will people see issues they do not have access to?
No. The chart runs with the viewer's own Jira permissions, so two people can see different numbers on the same dashboard.
Does it work with team-managed projects?
Yes, with both company-managed and team-managed projects.
Can I export or download a chart?
Not at the moment. Charts stay on the dashboard, which is also where they stay current.
