How Conversion Works

For each doc, the exporter asks monday.com for its own Markdown version of the doc, then tidies it up: it fixes spacing, rebuilds notice boxes and quotes, and turns mentions into names and links. If monday.com can't produce a Markdown version (for example, for an empty doc), the exporter converts the doc itself, block by block. Either way you get a standard Markdown file that works in GitHub, Obsidian, VS Code and static site generators.

Doc block	What you get
| inside a table cell	Written out unescaped, which adds an extra column to that row
Text in angle brackets, e.g. <draft>	Removed from the output
Layouts and columns	Empty layouts are left out. Layouts with content are exported as a table with one cell per column.
Mentions of people or docs you can't access	Left as @{user-<id>} or @{doc-<id>}
