Quick Start Guide

This guide walks you through exporting the docs in a workspace to a ZIP of Markdown files.

Step 1: Open the Exporter

Open a workspace, then choose Markdown Exporter under Workspace apps in the left-hand menu.

The exporter has two parts. The Export Configuration sidebar on the right is where you choose what to export and how. The main area on the left lists the docs and folders you can pick from.

Step 2: Choose a Workspace

Under Workspace, pick the workspace whose docs you want to export. You can pick any workspace you have access to, not just the one you opened the app from.

Step 3: Choose a Source

Under Source, choose either:

  • All Folders: every doc in the workspace, including docs that aren't in any folder
  • A specific folder: only the docs inside that folder

Step 4: Select Docs

Every doc and folder is selected when the list loads. Untick anything you don't want:

  • Untick a folder to leave out every doc inside it
  • Untick a single doc to leave out just that doc
  • Click a folder's arrow to expand it and see its docs

Step 5: Choose Whether to Include Attachments

Under Options, Include attachments is on by default:

  • On: images in your docs are downloaded into an attachments/ folder in the ZIP, and the Markdown links to those local copies.
  • Off: nothing is downloaded. Images keep their original links, exactly as monday.com returns them. The export is faster, but the links only work for people who can open them in monday.com.

Step 6: Export

Click Export at the bottom of the sidebar. The button shows how many docs are selected. A progress bar tracks each doc as it's converted.

When it finishes, an Export Ready! message appears. Click Download ZIP to save monday_docs_export_<date>.zip to your computer.

Just one doc? Use the download button on that doc's row instead. With attachments on, it saves a ZIP with that doc's Markdown file and its images. With attachments off, it saves the .md file on its own.

Step 7: Done

Unzip the archive. You'll find one .md file per doc, arranged in folders that match your workspace, plus an attachments/ folder with any images if you included attachments. See ZIP Structure for the details.
