Formula Library and Favorites

The Formula Library holds ready-made formulas and symbols, plus your own Favorites. Open it from the Formula Library button in the editor footer.

What's in the library

The library has two sections:

  • Favorites opens first. It holds the formulas you starred and the formulas you saved yourself.
  • Predefined formulas holds the built-in content. Open it to see its categories:
    • Algebra, Calculus, Geometry, Trigonometry, Statistics, Physics and Linear Algebra, with 48 formulas in total
    • Symbols, with 103 symbols

The search box looks through your favorites and the predefined formulas together, whichever section is open. Type part of a name, for example quadratic, to find a formula without opening its category.

Insert a formula

Click a card to insert that formula at the cursor in the editor. The preview updates straight away, and you can edit the inserted LaTeX like anything else you typed.

Star a formula

Every card has a star. Click it to add the formula to Favorites. Click the star again to remove it.

Save your own formula

  1. Write a formula in the editor.
  2. Click the ☆ Save button above the editor, next to NL to LaTeX.
  3. A small popover asks for a name. The name is optional, but it helps when you search or use autocomplete.
  4. Click Save.

The formula now appears in Favorites with a Your formula badge.

When the formula in the editor is already saved, the button reads Saved. Click it to remove the saved formula. The notification that follows has an Undo link in case you clicked by mistake.

Un-starring one of your saved formulas in the library also deletes it, again with Undo in the notification.

Who sees your favorites

Favorites are personal. Only you see them, and they follow you to every LaTeX editor on the Confluence site, on any page.

They are kept in the app's storage inside Atlassian (Forge), tied to your Atlassian account.

Limits

  • Up to 100 favorites in total
  • Of those, up to 50 can be formulas you saved yourself
  • Each saved formula can be up to 2,000 characters

When Favorites is empty

If you have not starred or saved anything yet, the Favorites section explains how to add one and shows a Browse predefined formulas button that takes you to the built-in formulas.

Use favorites while typing

You don't have to open the library to insert a favorite. Type two or more letters of its name in the editor and press Tab when it appears in the suggestions. See Autocomplete.
