Quick Start

1. Paste a checklist

Open an issue and paste this into Add an item:

# Build
- [x] Wire the 3DS challenge into the card form
- [ ] Unit tests for challenge timeout !
# Release
- [ ] Security review !
- [ ] Update the checkout runbook

You get two sections, one item already done, and two items marked Required.

2. Give items an owner and a date

Hover over an item to show the date and person buttons. Pick a due date and an assignee. Overdue items turn red until they're done.

3. Save it as a template

Open Templates → Save checklist as template and name it, for example "Definition of Done". Everyone on the site can now add it from the same menu.

4. Add it to new issues automatically (admins)

In Jira settings → Apps → Simple Checklist → Templates, edit the template, turn on Add automatically to new issues and pick projects and issue types. New issues that match get the checklist as soon as they're created.

5. Hold the workflow (admins)

Edit your workflow, select a transition such as In Review → Done, and add the Required checklist items are done validator. Publish the workflow. The issue can't move to Done while a required item is open, and Jira shows which ones.

See Required items and validators.
