Set it from an item's ••• menu, from a template, or by ending a pasted line with !.

The two validators

Validator	The transition goes through when
Required checklist items are done	Every Required item is done
All checklist items are done	Every item is done, except Optional and N/A items

Issues without a checklist always pass.

Adding a validator

1. Go to Project settings → Workflows (or Settings → Issues → Workflows) and edit the workflow.
2. Select the transition, for example In Review → Done, then Validate details → +.
3. Pick Required checklist items are done or All checklist items are done, then Add.
4. Publish the workflow.

When a transition is blocked, Jira shows a message naming the open items, for example: Complete the required checklist items first: "Unit tests for challenge timeout", "Security review".
