The vector cross product uses the same \times as ordinary multiplication; context and bold vector notation tell them apart. Differential geometry uses \wedge for the exterior product instead.
All ways to write it
| Command | Use | Package | Copy |
|---|---|---|---|
\times | cross product | none | |
\wedge | wedge / exterior product, ∧ | none |
Example
\mathbf{a} \times \mathbf{b} = |\mathbf{a}||\mathbf{b}| \sin\theta\, \hat{\mathbf{n}}Magnitude and direction of the cross product.
Questions
How do I make vectors bold?
\mathbf{a} for upright bold, or \vec{a} for an arrow over the letter. The bm package provides \bm{a} for bold italic.

Using cross product in Confluence
Confluence Cloud has no built-in LaTeX. With LaTeX Math for Confluence you add a math macro to any page, type \times and it renders inline or as a block, with a live preview while you edit. Every command on this page renders there without extra packages.
