An envelope icon needs a symbol font package: marvosym's \Letter is the classic, fontawesome5's \faEnvelope the modern choice. For the address itself, @ needs no escaping; hyperref makes it clickable. None of these icons exist in KaTeX.
All ways to write it
| Command | Use | Package | Copy |
|---|---|---|---|
\Letter | envelope ✉ | marvosymnot in KaTeX | |
\faEnvelope | Font Awesome envelope | fontawesome5not in KaTeX | |
\href{mailto:[email protected]}{[email protected]} | clickable address | hyperrefnot in KaTeX | |
\texttt{[email protected]} | monospace address, no packages | none |
Commands marked with a package need that \usepackage line in a LaTeX document. “Not in KaTeX” means the command will not render in KaTeX- or MathJax-based tools such as Markdown previews, Jupyter and Confluence math apps; use one of the other forms there.
Example
\texttt{[email protected]}A plain monospace email address, which works everywhere.
Questions
Can I use the envelope in a Confluence math macro?
No. Icon fonts are LaTeX-document packages. Use the Unicode character ✉ in page text instead.

Confluence Cloud has no built-in LaTeX. With LaTeX Math for Confluence you add a math macro to any page, type \Letter and it renders inline or as a block, with a live preview while you edit. The app uses KaTeX, so pick one of the commands above that is not marked “not in KaTeX”.
